Modeling and Acting Agencies?
Hi (: I%26#039;m 15 years old, and i%26#039;m an aspiring model, and actress. I live in Atlanta, Georgia. And i need some help on finding modeling and acting agencies. Any help would be great (:

Modeling and Acting Agencies?
1. Training. Acting/Dancing/Singing classes are a good start. You start to get some talent under your belt, and grow your confidence. Plus, if after about a year of classes if you realize you really don%26#039;t like it, it%26#039;ll be easier for you to back out.
2. Experience. Do Community Theater, act in your school play, get in some student films, etc. You%26#039;ll want to do as many productions as possible to have a great resume.
3. Agent. http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/tale...
As you can see, you%26#039;re going to need to spend at least two years (At the VERY least. Usually you%26#039;ll need three to four.) building yourself up. You%26#039;ll want to make sure this is what you really want to do before you start getting into this.
Also, you should NEVER have to pay for anything when it comes to getting an agent. If an agent tells you to take special classes from them or a website asks for a credit card number, that is a red flag that it is a scam. Some of the big scammers out there are: John Robert Powers, Millie Lewis, John Casablancas, Proscout, Model Look, Barbizon.
Hope this helps and I wish you a fantastic career. =)

Help with my auditions and jitters, AHHHH stress!?
I am attending a 5 day Band Camp an hour away from where i live. There%26#039;s so many of us going that they split us up into 3 bands based on ability level. Because of this setup, we have to audition for band and chair placement. I have my audition ready, i actually played it for a contest a couple months ago, so i know the material REALLY REALLY well. But, whenever i get to any audtion i freeze up and i can%26#039;t play well. I loose my breath and sometimes even start hyperventalating, so i don%26#039;t have very good air support, which gives me a bad tone.. (I play flute, the instrument that requires the MOST air out of ALL the other instruments..). Does anyone have advice to shake off the jitters and help me do my best. Deep breathing DOES NOT help me...
Help with my auditions and jitters, AHHHH stress!?
I%26#039;ve been there and will be there again and my friend told me to think of an image that is relaxing and calm. I think about I%26#039;m singing in front of my parents or by myself and it helps somewhat. Also just relax and let everything go.
Help with my auditions and jitters, AHHHH stress!?
I have always had audition jitters. As an actress, I always try to think of an audition as a performance, and try to %26quot;entertain%26quot; judges just as you would anyone else you would act for (or, in your case, play). I try to let myself sink into my love of acting and try not to think about abything else but this minite right now. It really helps me do great auditions.
Also, try to picka song that you truely enjoy, if you can pick. again, if you enjoy yourself and simply be an entertainer, you will be great :-)
Reply:have a sip od brandy to calm down.
Relax
Think about the last notes you will play.
Pre occupy your mind on other things.

How to build a Globe Theatre Model?
I need to build a model of this theatre for my english class. Has anyone ever built this? Or if you haven%26#039;t, do you have any ideas how I could build this?
I found this: http://www.papertoys.com/globe.htm
However, although that%26#039;s perfect, I need it about 4 times bigger than that :/. Anybody know how to enlarge that , and everything stays to scale?
How to build a Globe Theatre Model?
Would it be possible to take a copy of that image and blow it up to 400%? If you try this, be sure to use decent card - paper will not work.
How to build a Globe Theatre Model?
Paste the papertoys model pieces into word or paint and enlarge it to the size you need. Do it piece by piece so that it fits your printer.

Audition help. Merchant of Venice.?
ok so i am auditioning for my school production of the merchant of venice in 3 days, i dont know anything about the play, nobody does. We are going to be given a set text to perform at the auditions. i have only studied the tempest before. I dont have time to learn the whole play but i need some idea of characters. The play is only a 30 minute extract and its only school so its quite amature but there are some real drama queens there so i need a head start!!! Anyone with help on characters or ideas on what scenes are usually used for auditions i would really appreciate your help. Thankyou !
Audition help. Merchant of Venice.?
just be confident and know you can do it. don%26#039;t be scared because that will let you down! good luck;) i know you can do it even though i barely know you!
Audition help. Merchant of Venice.?
You should rent the movie..there is a recent one starring Joseph Fiennes, Jeremy Irons, and Al Pacino that you should check out.
Reply:If you go to Barnes %26amp; Noble, look in the drama section, you can find books that will give you a quick synopsis of the Shakespeare plays with character breakdowns. It will also explain the dialogue; sort of translate it into modern English.
Also, if you google the play you can find some sites.
Reply:Google Merchant of Venice, Portia, Act 4, scene 1. This is the scene in which Portia, the heiress, pleads with Shylock (the Jew) to have mercy on Antonio (the Merchant). This is the scene containing one of the more famous soliloquies of the play, %26quot;The quality of Mercy is Not Strained....%26quot;. That would be a great audition piece, and probably everyone%26#039;s choice, to be perfectly honest.
Also, before you audition, you should read a synopsis of the play to get a full understanding of what is going on. Hopefully you%26#039;ll enjoy it, it%26#039;s (obviously) an amazing piece of work.
Good luck!

Summer theatre production?
I want to audition for a theatre production (preferably a musical) this summer for teens. I looked at my high school theatre%26#039;s bulletin board, but I only saw advertisements for theatre camps (which I%26#039;m not interested in because of the cost and I want to work on a show). How do I find out about summer shows? Are they through churches, theatre companies, ect?
Summer theatre production?
It depends on where you live and how far you are willing to go.
And of course, if you have talent.
Keep trying.

What's the best way to prepare for an upcomming play?
Read it if you can. Try to get a sense of the charecters you want to play, and, if the audition involves a cold read, you can already be ready. Try to invent charecters. Just read and re-read it as much as you can. Good luck!
What%26#039;s the best way to prepare for an upcomming play?
I%26#039;m assuming you%26#039;ve already learned your lines and are speaking of opening night.
Relax. Trust that you know what you%26#039;re doing. Have a good meal a few hours before the performance. Connect with your fellow players before the show in a calm fashion.

What are the basic rules of theatre acting?
I am helping a group of completes novices (ages 10-13). I am including only the most basic rules. What are they?
What are the basic rules of theatre acting?
1. Be loud and clear
2. Be the character
3. Don%26#039;t put your back to the audience unless you are going upstage
What are the basic rules of theatre acting?
be yourself and only yourself but don%26#039;t be afraid to step out of yourself and into someone else%26#039;s shoes every once and a while .

Reply:Kudos to you for helping kids get into acting! That is really wonderful. Be sure to mention the following:
ALWAYS face out towards the audience. No matter how loud a kid speaks, if he isn%26#039;t facing towards the audience, no one will hear him. And speak loudly and clearly. This first rule is especially important because, no matter how great the acting is, if the audience can%26#039;t understand the dialouge, the play is no good.
Remember that acting isn%26#039;t just about saying your line, it%26#039;s about REACTING to other people%26#039;s lines. Every moment on stage is something the actor must think about. Every line that is said or every action that%26#039;s made pertains to every actor on stage.
Don%26#039;t throw away entrances. Actors have to think about WHY their character entered, and what their character wants. BE the character, even from off-stage. Know their motives.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
Reply:Basic Rules of Acting
1) Know the Layout of Stage stage right etc. Best way to get kids to learn this is by doing a Simon says type game Get them to feel comfortable in the space.
2) Warm up body and voice It helps them to focus and also helps their projection and clarity. ( I have a voice warm up sheet if you want it). Warm ups should be done at the start of every class
3) Acting is teamwork so get them to do trust games ex. get them into pairs one person closes their eyes while the other person leads them around the space by making a sound.
4) You should give a brief synopsis at the start of a class on a certain acting style for ex Brecht get them into groups depending on size of class and get them to work on a improv or a section of play using the acting style you spoke about at the start
Goodluck

Question About Talent Agents?
OK So I live in NJ so I am trying to get an agent in NY. But I want to be on Disney Channel which is filmed in California. If I get signed with CESD or The Gersh Agency in NY would they be able to get me castings in California for Disney or do I need to get an agent in California? And also if I get an Interview with an agent in California for the interview would I have to fly to California? And also Miley Cyrus did she have an agent in California when she auditioned for Hannah Montana or in Tennessee. Cuz I know that she lived in Tennessee until she got the part. So please let me know cuz I love to act and I really wanna be in Camp Rock 2 cuz I know there is castings for it. Please answer all my questions! Thanks!
Question About Talent Agents?
Hey! I have a talent agent and so far it seems like you know a thing or two. If you sign with CESD yes they will be able to get you auditions and castings in other states because casting directors send casting notices out to agents around the country, but you would have to be willing to travel where ever to audition. Most major talent agencies are very busy and dont have time for interviews so normally they ask you ask you to send several head shots and body shots depending on the agency, you can visit any of their websites and normally under get discovered or contact they will have the requirements and instructions on what to do. however if you do get an interview traveling there is an option but its not your only one. Sometimes they will offer phone interviews but this varies by agent. As for Miley Cyrus I am sure she had an agent in California but she probably had one in Tennessee as well. They have not released the official casting for Camp Rock 2 yet but if I come across it I will let you know!
Good Luck!
Question About Talent Agents?
Hey.
Firstly, good luck with getting accepted by an agency.
Secondly, if you get an agent in New York, then probably most of the castings and auditions that your agent will book for you are probably in New York or the area around. Because it is New York, you might even get an offer for theater cause New York is mostly for theater and tv series - not that much for films, though there are quite plenty of movies going on in New York but not as many as in California.
You agent will probably get you auditions for California films or series too because he/she know that it%26#039;s there that the big budget comes and most of the entertainment world rules. And also probably, yes, you will probably need to move to California for a while if you get accepted into a California movie. If it is a series then expect to move there for, um, a long time. I believe you are an underage so best of luck allowing your parents to let you move to California for life if you get accepted in a series.
Now, Disney Channel. Ok, Disney Channel is unpredictable. You see, if they really like you they will get you at once. If you walk into the audition room and the director likes you, you put yourself in A-List with the hope that you can act. However, this is the Disney Channel. They do NOT want to get people who have no experience in the entertainment industry but - as I said - they are unpredictable.
Your best shot would be getting your agent first of all cause he/she is your key to the audition room. No agent, no audition. Then, discuss with him/her that you want to get into Disney auditions, he/she will probably know a lot more than me or any other people around here about how stuff work in the entertainment industry. However, I wouldn%26#039;t expect getting into Disney without experience. Most people in Disney are people with a lot of experience or the perfect math for a specific character.
What would be best is to go auditioning for ANY role your agent will tell you. Even a role which does not say a single word in the whole movie/series/play etc... Do not expect lead roles from your first audition. Learn to live with rejection. NEVER take rejection personally cause after a couple of auditions you%26#039;ll say %26quot;I will never make it, I quite%26quot;. No, don%26#039;t do that. EVERYONE, literally EVERYONE went through rejection, even the stars of Disney. Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale or whatever her name is.
Best of luck with getting your name out there! It%26#039;s a tough industry but if you EVER say that you give up then just think of Sarah Jessica Parker who was almost ready to give up and she got the lead role in Sex and the city which was a hit for 6 years, got millions of dollars and then came up with a movie last week!
Best of luck!

How can i make the ballroom scene from Romeo and Juliet in a shoebox?
I have a final for english, in which i need to make the romeo and juliet ballroom scene where they see eachother..
I have legos as the characters, But i need a background and some props..(Household items would be best)
help?
How can i make the ballroom scene from Romeo and Juliet in a shoebox?
Stand box on end...glue a berry-basket (from supermarket purchase of 1/2 pint berries) to upper half and spray paint ...add your characters and a few climbing plants and you are all set.
How can i make the ballroom scene from Romeo and Juliet in a shoebox?
paint the walls and floor bright colors, like burgundy floor and gold walls. then make little paper masks for them to wear
u can also probably find some stickers that look like party decorations and use like leaves to make a little indoor plant

When/where are the giver auditions?
The giver book by Louis Lowry is one of my favorite books.
When I heard they were making a movie about it I looked it up on the computer. I couldn%26#039;t find anything about it. No cast or audition dates so if someone could please help me with this problem that would be great because I really want to be in the movie=]
When/where are the giver auditions?
You don%26#039;t just show up to audition for a movie. If I did know them it wouldn%26#039;t help you. You have to have an agent, pictures, a resume and credits.

You don%26#039;t just show up to audition for a movie. If I did know them it wouldn%26#039;t help you. You have to have an agent, pictures, a resume and credits.
Advice for newcomer actors?
One of my goals in life is to become an actress (if I have the chance of course). Right now i%26#039;m in college and although theater is not my major I%26#039;m going to take acting classes there. As for now I%26#039;m taking small steps, such as getting my braces removed and working out at the gym to be in better shape. I also bought a book for voice training (I gotta make my voice clearer and stronger). I wonder if anyone here can give me some advice on what other steps should I take next: do a portfolio, sign up with a talent agency? etc. Any advice will be appreciated.
I would like to be a commercial and tv actress, I really don%26#039;t aspire to be an A-lister if I end up making TV movies I would be content doing that.
Advice for newcomer actors?
1. Take acting classes! They will make you much better, and they are good on your resume. Also take dance, and voice lessons. Most pros are actors, singers and dancers.
2. Look in the classifieds! Find small jobs to boost up your resume. Even if it is small and unpaid it will be good practice!
3. Do theater any chance you have! Audition for your school%26#039;s musical or play!!
4) Make a resume! This should include but is not limited to your name, height, age, skills, and shows you have been in. You should also put on if you are in a union.
5) Get an agent! Remember if they ask you to pay they are a scam!
6. Be confident, put careful. It%26#039;s a dog eat dog buissness, and most waitors in NY are actors.
Good luck!
Advice for newcomer actors?
Do a lot of community theatre and school shows. this will Build your resume and help you perfect you performing skills. Once you feel you have a solid resume you should look for an agent.
Reply:well i would just say to have a back up plan and support(family and friends to help you). believe in yourself, and don%26#039;t be afraid to start small. Act as mush as possible the more experience the better actress you will become, and the more likely you will be able to get a bigger job. you could also try to do soap operas. singing lessons and dance lessons will help you a lot, the more talent the more jobs available. you should also learn how to do back stage work. sometimes actors will drop out and stage men can step in and get the job. never give up, and good luck to you.
Reply:1.
Reply:Thought you might be interested in a new social network for actors - a place to share stories, photos, videos and more. A profile page is also a great resource to attach to your professional resume. The site just launched - check it out at www.castedas.com

Talent agents are actually hard to come by. They have to agree to represent you. Just remember there are thousand and thousands if not millions of people trying to get into the biz.
Audition and act in everything you can. Tap into your acting teachers at college and learn from them about headshots, how to behave in an audition, etc. Learn how to write an entertainment resume.
Take classes, network, be kind to the costume designer (she%26#039;ll put you in the best costumes).
NEVER, ever pay for a talent scout, web sites, so-called modeling agents and their ilk. It constantly amazes me at the number of scam artists that are out there.
Learn to accept the word NO as a big part of your life.
You might want to take some movement or dance classes since you mentioned voice and I%26#039;m guessing that means musical theatre.
Get rid of any regional accent you might have. Stay fit, make sure your teeth look great (sounds like you%26#039;re doing both). Move to New York or LA once you get some good credits on your resume. Always be polite there is Soooo much truth in the old phrase, %26quot;The people you meet on your way up are the same people you meet on the way down.%26quot;
Good luck. You%26#039;re on your way. Have fun and I%26#039;ll get your autograph at the Emmy%26#039;s in a few years ;-)

Does anybody know of any upcoming open auditions?
I%26#039;m a young female studying to be an actor, but have no experience with the media whatsoever. I%26#039;m situated in Scotland but am willing to commute depending on the opportunities available. I%26#039;%26#039;ve previously joined sites such as %26quot;StarNow.co.uk%26quot;, but to no avail. So, back to my original question... (does this girl ever shut up?) - can anybody tell me of any open auditions throughout 2008? Thank you. ~xXx~
Does anybody know of any upcoming open auditions?
yeah X factor
Does anybody know of any upcoming open auditions?
Buy The Stage magazine, it lists all the open auditions
Reply:Try an agent, depending what age you are as some agents only accept certain ages, but don%26#039;t let them rip you off.
Keep an eye out in newspapers/magazines.
Try approaching theatres etc, it may not be particularly %26#039;professional%26#039; but will get you noticed.

How do you tell if someone can't act?
i%26#039;m watching tv and i wonder what makes a person suck at acting like miley cyrus
How do you tell if someone can%26#039;t act?
For me, anytime I%26#039;m taken away from the performance to note their acting (either good or bad), it makes them less than skilled.
How do you tell if someone can%26#039;t act?
Poor Miley. To be honest money can buy fame and her daddy has plenty of that. If she were to audition for a role with out connections and competed with many young ladies her age she would not have won. She may even lose her star status as a good girl for posing like she did for Vanity Fair magazine. Anyway a good actor is someone you can feel and relate to a role. If you can forget that actor had scandal or other tribulations and they make you feel the role you know that they are doing a great job. My fave actress is Charlene Therzon. I hope I spelled her name right. When she did that movie, %26quot;Monster%26quot; she and actress C. Ricci both gained weight and made themselves look downright ugly to do those roles. That takes guts and courage. Robert DeNiro gained weight in %26quot;Raging Bull%26quot;. If you have aspirations for acting always be open to change. All three actors in the shows mentioned lost the weight and look great today. I think Miley can do good if she made a press statement to apologise for her bad judgement in her photoshoot. I think Vanity Fair magazine made a bad judgement allowing those photographs to be published.
Reply:Monkey, You dont know your facts.... Miley was turned down NUMEROUS times..... she auditioned for the role of hannah montanna about 3-4 times. She did not get in because of her dad.
to answer your question: belive me, youll know when an actor / actress sucks....

If i start taking acting classes, will i get credit for it like in auditions and stuff?
like will they be able to know that i took classes and etc
If i start taking acting classes, will i get credit for it like in auditions and stuff?
yes u will
If i start taking acting classes, will i get credit for it like in auditions and stuff?
It will improve your art for sure, which will help in the auditions.
Reply:You list the classes you have taken under training on your resume so yes the people you are auditioning for will look at your resume and see what classes you have taken/are taking.
FYI most casting directors prefer people with training.
Reply:Not %26quot;credit%26quot;, no. You can list all the classes and training you like, but if you can%26#039;t handle the audition copy, you still get put in the %26quot;Reject%26quot; pile. Every audition helps you learn, though, and once you start booking them, the on-set and onstage experience is in some ways even more valuable.
Reply:Though you can be credited for expierience and lessons/training, it won%26#039;t do you very well unless it has improved your own personal acting skills. Lessons mean nothing if you got no talent or real expierience out of it. Auditioners look for someone with talent, and then to a lesser extent expierience. If you make the cast, you can put it in your bio. It is most important that you make it known to the auditioners through talent and being rehearsed.
Reply:List it in your RESUME!
Once they look at resume they can see what past work you have done and if you have enough training based on their opinion.

Good acting school and agent?
I am going to start acting school in September and I was wondering about which one I should go to. What do you think the best acting school is? I want one with advance acting please. Also, I need a good agent. Do you know of any really good agencies with REALLY good agents? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! I%26#039;ve wanted the opportunity since I was 3! PLEEEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Good acting school and agent?
It completely depends on what your situation is.
Add more details.
Good acting school and agent?
Well first get an agent when your DONE with classes.
i cant answer your question because you need more info.
Reply:Wait for your classes to be done with so you know whether you%26#039;re good or not. If you find out acting isn%26#039;t your calling, you shouldn%26#039;t be getting an agent. Agents want experianced people. Probably the best place to go for acting lessons for the ages you are looking for would be the kind that you would find through workshops and TYP (theatre for young people). Technically, I don%26#039;t know where you live (and you shouldn%26#039;t tell me, there ARE such things as internet predators), but if there is something like I mentioned, you should try it. Try looking up businesses on Blackle.com

Kidz in media...is it a SCAM?
I was wondering if kidz in media is a scam, because i was approached by a talent scout at the mall and she said blah blah you have a fun style and have a %26quot;look%26quot; we want blah blah come to the free screen test on sunday. And she gave us a card with a web site on it...she wasnt passing it out to everyone she actually had shopping bags and she like RAN up to us and was like %26quot;excuse me%26quot; and just tlking about it. Has anyone experienced them?

Reply:I took my 6 year old son to their screen test about 3 months ago and we had a great experience. Your child will get to read a commercial on camera and then you will get to meet representatives from entertainment companies. I had always though about getting my son involved in acting because we had been approached several times before. I had never acted upon it because I had always heard horror stories about scams and what not. This time we decided to go for some reason. I can%26#039;t tell you enough how glad I am that we did. My son just got a theatrical agent this past week. A very reputable one at that. Over the past 3 months, we%26#039;ve had the opportunity to work on 5 jobs with him as a %26quot;background actor%26quot;. He has done 2 commercials, 1 film, and 2 tv shows! He is only 6 - but he is really excited about going to acting classes and learning. We are very excited about what is to come. I know it seems weird to be approached while shopping. I always felt that way when it happened to us. If I would not have take then chance and gone to this Kidz In Media screening, I never would have met the people who have gotten me where I am now so yes, it is worth going if you ask me!

In order to become an actress....? PLEASE HELP ASAP?
Okay well lately I have taken up an interest in acting. Yes I understand its a 1 in a million chance but who knows maybe I can be that 1. Well I have a close family friend who has done a couple commercials and he said that if I give him my %26quot;pictures%26quot; then he can hand them 2 his agent and I can go for a try out hopefully.
Well how do I get these pictures? I am 14 years old and i need to find a photographer but not a supr expensive one seeing as I am only 14. But after I get the pictures what else should I do to make my chances greater?
Any tips?
Please tell me everything you know..
THANKS A ZILLION!!

Like in any business you will need experience, you will need to build a resume, and you will need to progress your talent.
If your school or community has drama programs get involved as much as possible. Take acting courses all through out high school and college. Try to participate in local theater. Your instructors should have some legit contacts that you can get in touch with. Legit is key, there are MANY scams out there so be careful.
Requesting only your photos sounds suspicious so be wary. Be sure to have your guardian or an escort with you at ALL times. If the company is not compliant with this they are more than likely not to be trusted.
There are websites out that list casting information. If you can borrow a quality digital camera, and have a friend with an artistic eye have them take head shots for you. But remember to keep it simple with a plain background.
If you find a casting you are interested in find out specifically what type of character they want portrayed and practice making audition tapes
I would also check out your local library for books on the subject they will probably be the most helpful.

In order to become an actress....? PLEASE HELP ASAP?

Appointment with talent agency?
Hello,
I have an appointment with a talent agency and was wondering what i should bring with me to it. Like should i bring pictures? I have a professional photography camera so i have tons and tons of pictures of myself. Should i memorize a monologue? What should i wear? I%26#039;m 15 and very petite So i was thinking a pair of skinny leg jeans, and a simple v neck. With a pair of boots ( pointy toe, ankle height) I have a unique sense of style so i don%26#039;t really lean towards mini skirts or booty shorts. hahah also makeup wise should i keep it simple? I usually don%26#039;t wear much except foundation, blush, and eyeliner.
Thanks everyone! %26lt;33333

oh god another JRP student, lets jump her!
Appointment with talent agency?
Bring photographs of you, one front body and one face, and your measurements (how tall u are, your weight, usually they ask waist, and chest, sometimes even leg or neck!, but the first three will be fine for now). Yes, by all means memorize a monologue. They will ask you to recite it. Keep it short, about one minute. With clothes, use something comfortable but not too laid back. And make up, make sure you looked polished but less is more, they want to be able to see the real you. I think this will be enough. If not contact the agency and ask them the requirements, break a leg
Reply:Call the agency for the answers to your questions. It may be just a look-see, or they may want a monologue.
Don%26#039;t worry about how to look. Just show up being yourself (dressed nicely, of course).
Reply:How old are you and what town do you live in? What type of agent are you seeing? Modeling? Commercial? Stage and film?
This info is necessary to actually answer your questions.

Am i right for the theater?
hi ! I am really interested in acting. It has almost become my life! I have takin dance for 7 years (tap, ballet, jazz, modern) and i am currently taking voice lessons. i have takin two acting classes and taking two more over the summer. Over all i was told i have alot of poise and a butiful singing voice ..... it is weird but wether its a small skit or a big production, i feel like something clicks inside of me and i turn into the person im acting like. i have been in 5 stge productions. I am still young and I am planning to have alot of training a head of me. thanks!
Am i right for the theater?

Am i right for the theater?
You%26#039;re definitely on the right track. Get involved with community or school theatre, keep going to your classes and then look at further training once you leave school. You%26#039;re looking at it the right way though, and it sounds like you want it enough to be prepared to put the time and energy into it, so go for it! Good luck!
Reply:It sounds like it%26#039;s your calling, but a little more practice never hurt anyone. If you are enjoying yourself and good at what you are doing (according to someone else%26#039;s opinion) then yes, you are right for acting / musical theatre.

Do you want to face humiliation, day after day, and be told that your best is not good enough? Are you willing to put in the hours? Are you willing to pay actual cash money, and expect to be ripped off, in order to gain wisdom? And Headshots?
Do you think it is fun to weep in frustration?
Can you keep an order of Ham and Eggs separate from an order of Brisket and Eggs, without stumbling?
Most importantly:
Can you look me in the eye and tell me the truth?
That is what real acting is all about.

Does anyone know where I can find a grumpy old man puppet.?
Resemblant to Jeff Dunham%26#039;s Walter.

Does anyone know where I can find a grumpy old man puppet.?
Generally, a puppet presented on TV or on stage is copyrighted, and unless sold as merchandise, you won%26#039;t find any replicas sold. If you want something for decoration, then check out whether or not there is merchandise available:
http://www.jeffdunham.com/
If you want a puppet for a performance, then I suggest you come up with your own designs and either make it yourself or commission a puppet maker. (Puppet makers can and do refuse to make replicas of copyrighted designs) It%26#039;s not that hard to come up with your own designs for a grumpy old man character.

Macbeth question? Really need help because I am really stuck?
In what ways did Macbeth feel guilty towards lady macbeth. Like how did he cause it or what role did he play. If you know like a good quote to back it up that would help.
Thanks
Macbeth question? Really need help because I am really stuck?
i think macbeth felt guilty because he wanted to not kill duncan but then lady macbeth kept persuading him to kill him. and i think hes guilty because she was like telling him when u are a man, u will do this deed.

Stage names and contracts?
I had a few questions about stage names.
A) If your stage name is not legally yours, do you sign contracts using your legal name (no union affiliations involved in this case).
B) Does your stage name ever NEED to become your legal name?
C) Also, this is just out of curiosity, do you generally go by your stage name everywhere, or at least with the people you work with, or do you use your real name?
Please just answer these questions, I%26#039;m not looking for anyone%26#039;s OPINIONS on stage names.
Stage names and contracts?
well you dont have to make it permanent
you sign both names.
Well it depends if you want your co workers to call you by your stage name
The whole deal why you chose one is because u wanted to be called that in whatever feild you are in.
sorry if that confused you.

This is serious, HOW DO I START MY ACTING CAREER.?
I love acting and preforming :] I really want to be on T.V one day. Where should I start? Acting classes? Auditions? Agents? Photographers? I am new at this biz. I%26#039;m 13 years old and now a freshmen since I graduated. :3
This is serious, HOW DO I START MY ACTING CAREER.?
An agent can tell you what you%26#039;d need to do better than anyone else. Ask your parents about speaking with one.

Othello: Inappropriate for School?
Hey guys,
My school drama club really wants to do Othello for this upcoming year%26#039;s Shakespeare production. However, our teacher represenitive (you know, the teacher who oversees everything) says that it is inappropriate for school.
We just read the play not 2 months ago and Ithe only thing i can find wrong with it are the death%26#039;s that occur throughout. However, we%26#039;ve done Romeo and Juliet and there are death%26#039;s in that show also.
Just wonering if anyone can think of anything else that the could be considered offensive. I%26#039;d really appreciate it.
Thanks!
Othello: Inappropriate for School?
Well, there are the racist themes, graphic sexual terminology (look up %26quot;the beast with two backs%26quot;), and derogatory commentary of women. Just like we have today.
Still, I think your school is being needlessly over-cautious. I saw it at the Globe last summer and school children of all ages were in attendance.
Othello: Inappropriate for School?
Oh, the Powers Above preserve us from the specter of %26quot;someone may be offended%26quot;!
OF COURSE it is inappropriate for school! Racism, sex, betrayal, jealousy? These have no place in schools. Schools should be places of playing it safe rather than confronting ugly truths. Or actually learning.
OF COURSE it is Racist. Do you not know ANYTHING about Elizabethan England? At least Othello was a Tragic Hero. Contrast Shylock. You wanna talk about ill-done-to.......?
And all that fancy talk, like rhymes and stuff. Why can%26#039;t they just speak English?
OOops! My bad. That is yet another hot-button issue.
Yes, High School Teacher Representatives: continue to rail at the possible %26quot;contamination of our Youth%26quot; by the truisms that Shakespeare addresses, without teaching your students how to spell ( cf: %26quot;represenitive%26quot;, %26quot;death%26#039;s%26quot; and %26quot;wonering%26quot; in the above question).
Heaven Forfend that a solid background in Basic English should have precedence over the chance that someone, somewhere, MIGHT be offended.
oooOOOOOoohhhh
Where would the World be? I shudder to think.
Reply:The appropriateness of any play depends on three factors: the cultural sensibilities and sophistication of your community; whether or not the play will help build or take away from your audience base; and whether or not your Drama group is up to the demands of the script.
No one likes to have a form of entertainment preach at them. Messages for growth are good but a poke in the eye is not. If you live in a community where people have yet to really accept biracial couples, this is probably not the right play to accomplish that goal. A better choice in that regards would be the musical South Pacific.
Would a lot of people who normally support high school Drama in your community want to sit through a very dark and grim Shakespeare tragedy? If not, do not dry up your audience base with a play they will not support and will not buy tickets to go see.
Finally, acting Shakespeare is very demanding, even from the very best stage actors. Othello has deep emotions and internal conflicts that are difficult for adults to deal with, much less successfully portray. Also, you have to do a lot of physical acting to help the audience to break through the language barrier of words that were brand new more than 400 years ago.
Reply:Congratulations on wanting to tackle this show.
Romeo and Juliet is a ye olde standby that high schools produce all the time, and yet, is rife with sexual innuendos. Read into about 90% of Mercutio%26#039;s lines -- most of what he speaks can be considered %26quot;offensive%26quot; depending on who your audience is and how graphic your actor is when delivering them.
And thus is the challenge with many of Shakespeare%26#039;s works when translating them to a high school setting.
As for the race issue...what does it matter if x% of your audience is anti mixed-race couples. If it exists in our society, why shouldn%26#039;t it be present on stage.
I studied the play in high school -- twice, in fact in 2 different classes. And theatres that I%26#039;ve worked for in the past have not only toured the show to high schools, but held school matinee performances.
I say go for it. Do your research, decide, as a group, why you all want to do Othello (the story, the poetry, the lessons...), plead your case and make the teacher plead his or hers -- find out what she finds so offensive and stand your ground.
And don%26#039;t fall back on Midsummer Night%26#039;s Dream or South Pacific. Good luck.

I need help?
Honey, if it were that easy, everybody would be a star. There is no free substitute for working hard and putting your own a*s out there to get noticed. Audition, audition, audition. Get an agent. Audition some more.

This is a BRAND new networking site for actors - 100% free - where an actor can show their stuff! You can create a profile page with photos, videos, and more... This is the only site that offers a place where directors can not only read about a potential actor - they can also see the actor and hear the actor. Check it out!

Move to a major city. Eventually, New York or Los Angeles will be your destination, but as you build your resum茅 of experience you can work in other major metropolitan areas that have good theater or film communities.
Enroll in acting class. Good actors study their entire lives. To choose a good class, ask trusted, successful professionals for references.
Compose a resum茅 of all the work you have done so far. As your body of work grows, drop the less professional work (such as school plays) from your resum茅.
Send your headshot and resum茅 with a brief cover letter to all the casting directors and agents in your area. Follow up with postcards every four to six months, updating them on your current acting projects.
Read the trade papers regularly: %26quot;Backstage,%26quot; %26quot;Dramalogue,%26quot; %26quot;The Ross Reports%26quot; and %26quot;Variety,%26quot; as well as online publications such as newenglandfilm.com, as appropriate. Know what is being cast where, and send headshots and notes directly to directors and producers whenever possible, requesting auditions.
Always accept invitations to industry events and parties, and meet industry professionals whenever possible. Who you know is extremely important.
Persevere.
And good luck!

Try to use proper English and maybe she will pay attention to you. She is a very talented actress who it is reported shares your religion. You can ask her how she handled it.
I have heard she is very good and helpful to aspiring actresses who write to her.
She was Maureen in Rent and is in Wicked also.
She is married to Taye Diggs.
She is very nice (put me in contact with someone for the play I am writing but I am her age and used the best English I knew when getting in touch with her.)
Not that she is an English snob but people will take you more seriously if you do not write like you are text messaging some boy who wears his pants down on his hips with his underwear showing.

American Pie and ending scene?!?
Did the Choir Girl and Oz get it on at the end of the movie? And then did he lie about it? Or did he really did not to anything with her?
American Pie and ending scene?!?
I am very sure that they did not do it. That is far to simple a movie for a complex thing having sex and not talking about it.
