I am attending a 5 day Band Camp an hour away from where i live. There%26#039;s so many of us going that they split us up into 3 bands based on ability level. Because of this setup, we have to audition for band and chair placement. I have my audition ready, i actually played it for a contest a couple months ago, so i know the material REALLY REALLY well. But, whenever i get to any audtion i freeze up and i can%26#039;t play well. I loose my breath and sometimes even start hyperventalating, so i don%26#039;t have very good air support, which gives me a bad tone.. (I play flute, the instrument that requires the MOST air out of ALL the other instruments..). Does anyone have advice to shake off the jitters and help me do my best. Deep breathing DOES NOT help me...
Help with my auditions and jitters, AHHHH stress!?
I%26#039;ve been there and will be there again and my friend told me to think of an image that is relaxing and calm. I think about I%26#039;m singing in front of my parents or by myself and it helps somewhat. Also just relax and let everything go.

I have always had audition jitters. As an actress, I always try to think of an audition as a performance, and try to %26quot;entertain%26quot; judges just as you would anyone else you would act for (or, in your case, play). I try to let myself sink into my love of acting and try not to think about abything else but this minite right now. It really helps me do great auditions.
Also, try to picka song that you truely enjoy, if you can pick. again, if you enjoy yourself and simply be an entertainer, you will be great :-)
Reply:have a sip od brandy to calm down.
Relax
Think about the last notes you will play.
Pre occupy your mind on other things.
